Over 138,000 men and women residing in the old county of Staffordshire took part in the Great War during the years 1914 to 1919.
This site provides a searchable database of county war memorials and rolls of honour commemorating the valiant efforts of these gallant individuals.

This site at present contains the names and details of over 45500 Staffordshire personnel who served in The Great War. It contains details of those who survived as well as those enscribed on local memorials who were lost in action during the war.



Local newspapers researched include the Staffordshire Weekly Sentinel, Staffordshire Advertiser, Burton Daily Mail, Midlands Advertiser, Uttoxeter Advertiser, Cheadle & Tean Times, Cheadle Herald, Walsall Pioneer, Lichfield Mercury etc.



The Regimental War Diaries of both the North & South Staffordshire Regiments were used during the production of the notes. The China Dragon and Staffordshire Knot Regimental Magazines were also examined for information.

Available are 1/5th Bn.K.O.R.Lanc.Rgt.; 19th Bn.Nor.Fus.; 1st Bn.R.Warks.Rgt.; 15th Bn.W.Yorks.Rgt.; 10th Bn.E.Yorks.Rgt.; 1/4th Bn.K.O.S.B.; 11th Bn.E.Lancs.Rgt.; 4th Bn.K.S.L.I.; 5th Bn.N.Staffs.Rgt.; 9th Bn.D.L.I. & 9th Bn.H.L.I.



Further battalions are Honourable Artillery Company, 8th,9th,13th,14th & 15th London Rgt., 2nd & 3rd Monmouthshire Rgt., and Cheshire Yeomanry. Also 45th Bn.Canadian Expeditionary Force; 14th Light Horse and 14th & 57th Bn. Australian Imperial Forces.
